Safety Net

Safety Net is a children’s safeguarding and wellbeing service, we have been working with children and families across Brighton and Hove since 1995.

Safety Net believes that keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. We all have the right to feel safe. There is nothing so awful that we can’t talk with someone about it.

WE'RE HERE IF YOU'D LIKE TO TALK TO US FOR ANY REASON.

ABOUT SAFETY NET

Our aim is to help children better understand their feelings by developing their emotional literacy, learn skills to feel safer, be more connected and able to navigate life’s challenges.

Our experienced staff do this through building safe and trusting relationships, in order to provide children with the skills and support they need to thrive.

Our work is underpinned by the evidence-based ‘Protective Behaviours’ safety awareness and life skills programme which is based on two key messages: We all have the right to feel safe all of the time; and we can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small.

Working closely with schools we provide a range of bespoke services that empower children aged 8-14 to build resilience, self-esteem and coping skills; helping them to make safer choices. Our offer includes:

1:1 and small group interventions; BRAVE (Boosting Resilience and Valuing Emotions)

Whole class workshops on a range of topics including: online safety, children’s mental health, transition to secondary school

Playground buddy training; An anti-bullying whole school approach

Resource packs for schools to support social and emotional wellbeing

Ongoing activities in the community and opportunities for children to become young volunteers.

Children’s voices are at the heart of all of our work that we do at Safety Net. Listening to and consulting with children and young people across all our services, informs and shapes our ongoing service delivery. This helps us to identify emerging themes ensuring we are best placed to respond to need.

Having their voices listened to empowers children to feel confident in their right to feel safe, connected, valued and ultimately to thrive.

My favourite bit was learning how easy it was to share emotions and feelings.

If you are nervous, you should try the sessions because they help and are fun. I’ve learned how to calm down and my favourite coping strategy is five finger breathing.
