* Safeguarding alerts concerning children will be retained until the child is age twenty-five (a period of
seven years after school leaving age) and then destroyed using secure methods.

**Safeguarding alerts concerning staff, referrals to the Local Area Designated Officer
(LADO) and any resulting disciplinary paperwork will be retained until the staff member reaches the usual
retirement age or for ten years, whichever is later. All paperwork pertaining to staff safeguarding concerns
will be retained even in cases where any allegation was proved unfounded. However, if the allegation is found to
be malicious the paperwork will be destroyed immediately.
