16 October 2014 – PCC Katy Bourne visited WASP After School Club to present a cheque for £5,000 (which one of the children swiftly ran off with, followed by several others). Katy, who was a play worker in her early 20s, spent an hour with the children, teaching several how to play pool; watching an impromptu dance performance; generally enjoying the children’s company and seeing how the money will be spent. She commented on how much fun she could see the children were having and conveyed appreciation for how much the service is needed and the benefits it brings, both socially and academically.
