Safeguarding & wellbeing service, helping children and families across Brighton & Hove
The Wild Mind Project’s mission is to support young people’s emotional and mental wellbeing through nature-focused interventions, creative activities and peer support.
The Wild Mind Project supports the mental health of young people aged 11 to 25 through nature connectedness. We have designed an intervention programme that complements or offers an alternative to one-to-one counselling.
The unique combination of nature, mindfulness and creative activities can provide a real benefit to young people living with stress, depression and anxiety. Importantly, the young people form a network of supportive new friends that will last well beyond the programmes.
The Wild Mind Project’s programmes are fully grant-funded, meaning they are free for young people.

Building on the success of The Wild Mind Project, our new project supports young people (11-15 & 16-25) with a particular focus on supporting LGBTQ+ and young people through nature-based and creative activities focused on the coastal environment.
We will learn about the sea, as well as ocean conservation & marine life and coastal foraging. There is also an opportunity to get involved with water-based activities.
The project aims to: improve mental health and wellbeing, develop practical coastal skills, foster environmental stewardship, and build social connections in a trauma-informed, neuro-inclusive way.

Our sessions are small (10 young people in a group) and are relaxed and calm. Young people can opt in and opt out of activities and participate in a way which feels comfortable. It will enable greater engagement with young people, providing local opportunities to Learn, Connect, and Grow while nurturing a deeper connection to the environment.

Charlotte has enjoyed working with children and young people for over 15 years, and has specialised in mental health and wellbeing for over 6 years in different settings. She enjoys mindful walks in nature – whether that is by the sea or in the countryside, along with being active outdoors with watersports and learning about how to take care of wildlife and the environment.
