The biggest blanket in Steyning

Service users at the Dingemans Centre & Cafe, Steyning, have spent the last five months knitting a large blanket which is being donated to The Salvation Army.

The project began back in September with Gill and Christine, two volunteers at Dingemans, taking the lead and encouraging people to knit over coffee and during afternoon talks.

Over the course of five months the quantities of squares grew and grew and there have been many attempts at finding the perfect design. In fact the blanket is not quite finished yet, as there is still a row of squares to add. One volunteer has been working tirelessly, sewing them together at home.

The Dingemans Centre & Cafe is open three days a week, offering minibus trips and group activities to people aged 55 and above. For those who just fancy popping in for coffee or a home cooked lunch the cafe is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.
