WASP has a highly skilled staff team who, through play, help the children learn both social and academic skills, helping to raise their confidence and aspirations whilst having a great time. The club has a lively, fun and vibrant atmosphere where the children experience happy and natural interaction with our staff.

We encourage all children to play outside for some of the session, where we initiate games that we know they enjoy and will take part in. Healthy food and drinks are always served and the children help to prepare and distribute these. During the summer we run trips to places the children would otherwise not experience, such as swimming pools and the local countryside.

Many of the children’s families have multiple issues at home – WASP aims to provide a break from these issues: a place where children feel safe with adults they trust and who show respect to them. Some of the children have additional issues such as behavioural difficulties; the staff work with them to help resolve or manage such problems, in coordination with the school and other professionals where appropriate.

Volunteering

Impact Initiatives relies on our fantastic team of 120 volunteers. Without them we wouldn’t be able to provide a fraction of the services we do now. We have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities.  View more

‘I love coming to WASP; there is always loads to eat and we never get shouted at. We have to stick to the rules and, mostly, we do. I like building dens here best. Garry always asks me if I have done well at school today’
