The Henfield Haven is open

After much work from volunteers and staff the Henfield Haven has finally opened its doors!

The Haven is the first of its kind in Henfield, serving the local community Monday – Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm.

There is support and individually planned activities for people with higher needs, including people with dementia, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, whilst Tuesdays and Wednesdays offer activities, classes and trips for people aged 55+. A full programme of activities from yoga to crafts and music, is available on request.

Also open is the new cafe at the Haven. Open to all ages, you can come and join us for a hot lunch, soup or freshly prepared sandwich, or enjoy a delicious slice of cake with a latte or cappuccino. All food is cooked on the premises and affordably priced.

On site, there will also be support for carers, offered by Carers Support, and a hearing clinic run by Action for Deafness.

As final touches were still being put to the newly refurbished building, staff took time out from their training to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the many community volunteers who have made the Haven possible.

Five weeks of intensive work have transformed the 1970’s building into a fresh, modern centre. Local builder Nigel Parsons and his team carried out the internal alterations and were central to the success of the project.

The Workshop Group of Henfield Theatre Company led the redecoration while members of the Henfield Garden Club landscaped the front garden. Artwork on display around the building has been kindly loaned by Lyn Bedford-White.
