BOPP is now The Hop50+

Brunswick Older People’s Project (Bopp), also known as St John’s, has been given a new name and it will now be known as The Hop 50+.

The name change has come as a result of a re-branding exercise for Impact when a focus group, including regular Bopp visitors and staff, decided that the project needed to better reflect what it does.

The Hop50+ was decided upon because it is for people in Brighton & Hove who are aged 50+. ‘The Hop’ because the emphasis is very much on keeping active, fit and healthy over the age of 50+.

The Hop50+ will still be based at St John’s Centre on Palmeira Square. It will also still boast a café, a range of classes, a beauty room, health promotions, outreach services and minibus trips from the centre.

Caroline Ridley, CEO of Impact Initiatives, said: “For many people reaching 50 gives you a new lease of life. The kids have long left home and suddenly you find you have a bit more time to do the things that you enjoy like trips out, classes, or something completely different. The Hop50+ offers activities that change every month, so there’s always something to get stuck into. It’s a place that mirrors the vibrancy of our city and now the new name better reflects this.”
